Cross-Discipline Collaboration Intern.
Interned working alongside computer & electrical engineers to assist with their senior capstone.

Designing and Developing 3 Major Components.
Understanding what would be the best designs to fit exact measurements.

2,000+ Attendees at Engineering EXPO.
Built and attached finalized designs for the group to present at the UIC Engineering EXPO.
OBJECTIVE:
Design and manufacture parts to house and protect components during test flights.

Design Constraints
Understanding the components that already exist that need to be designed around.

All designs have to keep in mind: fastener access, component clearance, and structural support.
Battery Tray

CPU Holder
Creating a base for additional battery storage and does not interfere with cable connections.

Central camera mount underneath the tray.

Tiered platforms that hold the CPU in place, connecting with existing holes in the base.
Dome
Grooves for wire pass-throughs.
Inspired by a kids outdoor climbing dome. This shape would provide the perfect coverage and clearance for the internals.

Trial and error with weight distributions.
A design had to be sturdy to withstand falls, but light enough to allow the drone to still take off.
Prototyping + Test Fitting

Multiple print iterations tested for fit, assembly, and access to internal components.

Prototypes evaluated to ensure proper alignment of motors, mounts, and housings before final fabrication.

Final Concept

Bridging technical specifications into manufacturable components.

UIC Engineering Expo

The group presented their extensive research and the finalized drone to a wide audience.

Flyer handouts made for the expo.
